The Serra Club is a non-profit charitable organization composed of members from Catholic parishes in Clay, Jackson and Platte counties in Missouri. This club is one of three in the Kansas City-St. Joseph Diocese and works in concert with the Diocesan Vocations Office to promote and support religious vocations in the Northland. Their main efforts are to raise funds to provide programs and direct support to priests, seminarians and others pursuing a religious vocation.
This club meets the third Tuesday of each month at St. Andrews Parish Hall at 6:00 p.m. for a rosary or Mass, dinner, a speaker and a short business meeting. For more information about the Serra Club activities and how you can become a member, contact on of the members from Holy Family (listed below) or email email@example.com.
An active member is one who attends monthly meetings and serves on one or more of the clubs committees. You can also become a Friend of Serra. A friend is a person who provides annual financial support, is not required to attend monthly meetings but is welcome to do so, and serves as a prayer partner for vocations.
There are three levels of Friends:
If you want to become a friend of Serra simply contact our Club treasurer Madonna Davis.
In 1934 in Seattle, Washington, a group of Catholic friends gathered to meet regularly over a meal and discuss how Christian Values could be better lived out in their lives. As the group grew the focus shifted to encouraging vocations, and the group adopted Padre Junipero Serra as their patron. In 1935, in Seattle the first official Serra Club was established. Today, over 800 Serra clubs exist spanning 37 countries with a total membership over 19,000 people. Our club was chartered in 2004 and we currently have over 40 members and friends.
